About the Project
Creating a pregnancy monitoring & care system app to get regular updates
Preggers is a unique concept that helps pregnant women and health providers to work as a team. It is an evidence-based approach that is planned systematically to support prenatal care.
The key component of the tool is self-learning and personal care, remote access to the prenatal care consultancy, in built-scheduling, and alerts for pregnant woman and caregiver to diminish possibilities of missing important dates.
My Design Process
As a solo UX Researcher & Designer, I...

HOW I UNDERSTOOD THE USER NEEDS?
Problem Space
Is relying only on clinical and frontline health workers home visits sufficient for healthy delivery?
User Research
Understanding all about the users
I came to know that most of the pregnant women primarily, first-time mothers including the primiparous from low-income group, rural, urban, unmarried, or teenagers are more likely to deal with anxiety and depression in their first two trimesters.
To gather a detailed insight, I did both online and in-person observations. I observed tweets that were made by pregnant women posted on various social media platforms. I also enlisted 8 participants, 2 health workers, and 6 pregnant women to conduct my interviews.
From Users to Ideas
Target the design goal from pregnant women persperctive
The findings I learned from user interviews & observations, helped me to work on the affinity diagramming to categorized the pain points of the users related to maternal health and their different implications.
Ideation
Match research with ideation
In order to provide pregnant women a healthy and convenient experience, I brainstormed about the most important features that need to be present in the application.
HOW I CAME UP WITH THE DESIGN?
From Ideas to Design
Converting the ideas into final design
I created some initial sketches based on empathizing with my personas and did some quick user testings with 2 of my end-users to gather more relevant feedbacks based on their requirements.
Optimizing the sketches into high-fidelity design screens
A click-through Figma prototype of the final Preggers application is shown:
Reflections
What I learned and what would be my next steps...
There is increased maternal mortality, high-risk obstetric emergencies due to lack of timely notifications and awareness. The research phase helped me to gain better insights into how important it is to provide accurate, up-to-date information to pregnant women regarding their gestation changes.
NEXT STEPS:
Add different types of features such as in-person appointment scheduling, milestones achieved, etc
Allow pregnant women to attach photos and videos of their moments
